THE PROBLEM

Your family needs more than just Islamic information.

It needs a story worth gathering around.

Muslim children encounter stories every day.

They know fictional worlds, characters, heroes, conflicts, and adventures. Yet many have only briefly encountered the real people who preserved revelation, crossed continents in pursuit of knowledge, built institutions, served communities, confronted their own weaknesses, and changed the course of civilization.

The problem is that bringing these stories to life requires time, research, trustworthy sources, thoughtful writing, and material that does not feel like another school assignment.

Parents are left trying to choose between resources that are too childish, too academic, too fragmented, or dependent on another screen.

Risalah prepares the complete experience for you.

Why this matters for Muslim families

Parents matter more than any resource or influence

Research on religious identity development identifies parents as the most powerful influence on their children’s religious identity. Shared religious experiences, parental modeling, religious materials, and open two-way conversations all contribute to how young people understand and carry their faith.

Risalah gives the parent something meaningful to open, experience, and discuss with the child.

Yaqeen Institute — religious identity development review

Muslim children are forming identity under real pressure

In the 2025 American Muslim Poll, 47% of Muslim families with children in grades K–12 reported that a child had experienced bullying because of their religious identity during the previous year.

Our children need more than warnings about the world around them.

They need a positive understanding of who they are, where they come from, and the remarkable tradition to which they belong.

Families are searching for meaningful time away from screens

Common Sense Media reported average daily entertainment-screen use of five hours and 33 minutes among tweens and eight hours and 39 minutes among teens in its 2021 national census. Those totals excluded school and homework use.

Risalah does not ask families to eliminate technology.

It creates one intentional, tactile, screen-free experience worth choosing together.

Risalah wordmark and Arabic name

A small message that leads back to the greater Message.

Risalah means a letter, a message, and something entrusted from one person to carry to another.

The Message of Islam reached us because generations of believers carried it.

They preserved it, studied it, explained it, embodied it, and passed it onward.

Risalah brings their stories into Muslim homes so that families can discover this inheritance together and carry its wisdom forward.

Receive the story. Carry the Message.

Open a story. Explore a world. Build an archive.

Each Risalah is one complete experience. Nothing inside is random filler. Every piece helps your family enter the story, understand its meaning, or remember it afterward.

Our standards

  • Researched through identifiable sources
  • Reviewed for historical and Islamic accuracy
  • Clear about the difference between established fact and narrative reconstruction

What Risalah will not do

  • Risalah does not write fictional letters in the voice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

  • Risalah does not use history to provoke unnecessary sectarian conflict.
Our aim is to tell powerful stories without sacrificing adab, accuracy, or trust.
IMAGINE OPENING RISALAH NO. 01

When the Message Began

The first revelation at Ghar Ḥirāʾ

Above the crowded streets and the idols surrounding the Kaʿbah stood Jabal al-Nūr—the Mountain of Light. Near its summit was a small cave called Ḥirāʾ.

Muhammad ﷺ had begun to love solitude. He would leave the city for several nights, worshipping Allah and reflecting far from the noise below.

Inside the cave, the first command came:

‘Iqraʾ’ — Recite.

Before the world heard the Qur'an, there was silence.
What does it mean for a message to begin in solitude—and then transform the world?

WHY RISALAH EXISTS

Islam reached us as a living inheritance.

It was carried through families, teachers, scholars, travelers, worshippers, builders, and ordinary believers who understood that knowledge must be preserved and passed forward.

Yet many Muslim children now encounter that inheritance as isolated names, abbreviated lessons, or facts studied long enough to complete an assignment.

Risalah exists to make the tradition feel alive.

Our mission

To create immersive, trustworthy Islamic story experiences that bring families together through history, faith, discovery, and meaningful conversation.

Our vision

A generation of young Muslim people who know that Islamic history is their history; who recognize its scholars, cities, journeys, achievements, and moral struggles; and who feel responsible for carrying its wisdom forward.

We receive the stories of those who came before us so that we may carry the Message forward.

Frequently asked questions

  • What age is Risalah designed for?

Primarily ages 10 and older. Strong readers may enjoy it independently, but the fullest experience comes from reading and discussing it as a family. Teens and adults should find it substantial rather than childish.

  • Is one membership enough for multiple children?

Yes. One dispatch is designed to be shared by parents and several children in the same household.

  • Do you depict Prophets or write fictional words for them?

No. Risalah does not visually depict Prophets and does not invent first-person letters, quotations, or dialogue in their voices. Prophetic history is narrated respectfully through Qur'anic, hadith, sīrah, and scholarly sources.

  • How much time does one dispatch require?

Most families can enjoy the central story and discussion in about 30–60 minutes.

  • What Islamic perspective does Risalah follow?

Risalah is created for a broad Sunni Muslim audience and avoids unnecessary polemics. Relevant legitimate differences are presented carefully and respectfully.

  • How do you verify the content?

Issues use identifiable Islamic and historical sources, verify important quotations and hadith, identify legitimate uncertainty, and include a concise source guide.
